New Vanity & Organization

Since I moved into this apartment in August of last year, I was using a huge computer desk as my vanity. All of my makeup, though in sterilite drawers, was vulnerable to little hands.

My favorite NYX lippie

So, I decided it was past time to change that. I had another, smaller desk that went with a wicker furniture set that I got at a yard sale last year. It is from the 1980s but well taken care of with glass tops. I have shelves that came with the set but turned out to be too cumbersome to use on the desk. So, the unit was moved to sit on top of the dresser. One of the higher shelves houses all of my nail polish & the like as they were vulnerable to those little hands too. I was just waiting for the day I heard glass shattering & would find my fave color all of the hardwoods.

I had been eying the Luxury Deluxe Makeup Organizer by Lori Greiner on QVC for some time, but I couldn't bring myself to pay that much. It retails for $66.00 & that isn't including tax & shipping. So, I was kind of stuck with all of my products in totes & stuck in places to where my little one couldn't get to them. My dad decided to take my girls & I out to enjoy the weather on Sunday & after the girls were good & tired, we decided to get ice cream. One the way to the ice cream shop is one of my favorite places to shop, Liquidations by Lila. I had seen a charging station (I think) there a few weeks prior. I went in not expecting to find the makeup organizer because the store has practically new stuff weekly. But, just by chance, the makeup organizer was there. It is the older, bigger version than what is currently available on the site. But, it was only half the price as what it is on QVC. I scooped it up. It was still in it's original wrappings with about 10 little packets of silica gel still in the compartments. I am very happy that I found it. It has really made a difference in my organization and the little one has yet to figure out how to get it open, and I don't think she will for quite a while. I also can use the drawers on the desk for storage. Since the desk is older, it takes a little elbow grease to get the drawers open and she definitely hasn't figured that out yet.

So, without further adieu...

I'm baaaack!

So, my hiatus to the blogging world was due to me having to intern for school. If I wasn't doing free labor for the good folks at CVS, I was at school. And, if I wasn't at school, I was being mommy and trying to fit homework and sleep in there somewhere... oh and a tornado went between mine & my neighbor's house and took out every tree & power line/pole in front of my house.

That being said, I have not neglected in taking pics of my manis. I haven't worn acrylics since the first of the year simply because I count pills all day and they just aren't practical in the line of work I am in... counting pills all day. I have had some really cute looks and gotten a good amount of some great colors. I just put in an order for my Zoya BOGO colors. From the Sunshine Summer collection I got Tanzy & Faye. I also have been coveting Crystal, so I added that as well. I got the China Glaze crackle coat in 'Broken Hearted', China Glaze 'Cyberspace' from the Tronica collection, Essie's 'Dive Bar' (GORGEOUS!!!), Milani 3D Holo 'Hi-Res' & One Coat Glitter 'Blue Flash', Nicole by OPI 'Twist of Fate', and Zoya's 'Edyta.' I also aquired a couple of packs of the new Sally Hansen nail sticker thingies (I don't want to get back up to check the name. LOL) and a 3 pack of Kiss thin brush detail colors in pink, lavender & blue.

Okay! to the pics already!!

Yeah that's in front of my house.

January

I got my Zoya polishes this past week and I am currently wearing Dovima. I am not used to not wearing my Seche Vite topcoat so I am anxious to see how long it lasts since this is a matte polish. I also have 2 nails with Sally Hansen's Salon Effects. I will have pictures & a review after I have worn them for the weekend. In the meantime head over to LushFauxReal and have a gander at what she thinks about her Zoya polishes & her experience with the Salon Effects.

Here are a few looks I had in the past couple of weeks. I also swatched all of my polishes (not including the ones I just got) and realized that I need MAWR! I am currently fake nail free to let my nails gain some strength and to get in better shape. I am using a nail strengthener I got at Sally's and I will let you know how that goes. Until then, enjoy the pics!

Head over to Facebook and like Zoya Nailpolish & Treatment to get a promotional code for 3 (THREE) free bottles of your choice of polish. HELLO!? Yeah, a lot of people have done this so they said shipping may take longer, but for the price of one bottle minus a nickel for shipping, is worth the wait. Zoya is a very popular brand but not readily available in a lot of places like Chattanooga. So go! What are you waiting for??

Haulin' in the new year

The end of 2010 has come & gone and I am ready for a whole new outlook on life. I didn't get much for Christmas so I treated myself to getting my nails done at an actual salon. I got natural tips so that I could paint them however I wanted. She did an okay job but, I wasn't super impressed  but, I can maintain the fills at home so I will probably have it done every so often.

I hit the mother load at Bath & Bodyworks after Christmas & stocked up on my favorite scent, Vanilla Lemon. I should be set for a good 2 years... I hope.  I also got a new Kathy Van Zeeland bag. My next post will be all of the nail colors I have gotten & the few new makeup items I have purchased. I hope to get back to keeping up my youtube channel this year as well.

Halloween nails

I went a little overboard with the design on this Halloween nail art. It's kind of interesting but I just wasn't feeling it so I removed it the next day.

I have taken my acrylic nails off for a while but really want them back. The kids will be at their dad's this weekend so I will take that opportunity to bring back the claws.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!
